While earning a dual degree in Advertising/Public Relations and Psychology from Penn State University, Monica was able to balance four internships. During her time interning with Geisinger in Wilkes-Barre, PA, she learned how to write concise, effective press releases for the medical field. Not long after, she changed courses and spent time as a Communications Intern with Centre County United Way, where she learned important skills such as strengthening media contacts, writing feature articles about non-profits, and creating promotional materials to boost brand awareness. Monica also spent time as a Promotions Intern at Qwik Rock, Centre County's Rock Radio Station. It was at this internship that she learned how to promote a radio station with contests and give-a-ways. Finally, she spent her last semester as a Campus Recruitment Ambassador for City Year Greater Philadelphia. This internship helped Monica become more confident in speaking face-to-face about a brand. She attended career fairs, hosted campus informational sessions, and met with students one-on-one to discuss City Year.
After graduating in 2012, Monica went on to become a Brand Ambassador at a local concert venue where she assisted Toyota by collecting brand research (surveys) and hosting contests and give-a-ways. This was a seasonal position, so after it ended, Monica relocated to Philadelphia, PA, where she worked as a copy-writer, social media manager, and online advertising consultant (specializing in SEO and PPC campaigns.) Certified in Google Adwords Fundamentals, she managed Google Adwords search and display campaigns for small businesses. Monica also has experience with Facebook, Bing, and Yahoo advertising.
On the side, Monica created and manages Poets of NEPA, a website dedicated to showcasing the work of local poets from Northeastern Pennsylvania. A poet herself, she showcases her own work at poetrybymnoelle.tumblr.com and has a personal blog at wordsbymnoelle.wordpress.com. She enjoys volunteering at Camp Koala, a camp dedicated to providing children with ways to cope with the loss of a close relative through art and musical therapy.
Through a stroke of luck, she picked up painting in 2017. Since then, she has painted, drawn, and penned more then 50 pieces.
